Airy

2024 / AI Agent-based Works / Robotic arms, gossamer fabric, multi-agent control

Two robotic arms turn a sheet of silk into a visible contest of timing, force, cooperation, and weather.

Airy stages a simple scene: two white industrial arms face each other across a lightweight sheet. Their movements lift, snap, delay, and release the fabric. A forest image moves across the silk, and the room's weather changes with the robots' timing.

The work does not ask viewers to read code. It gives them a material event they already understand in the body. A bedsheet rises cleanly, stalls, trembles, or falls. The motion suggests agreement, hesitation, rivalry, or recovery.

The fabric becomes the place where machine intention appears. It is not a backdrop. It is the shared body through which the robots declare conflict and coordination.

As the sheet rises, the projected forest scrolls upward, using height as a visible measure of machine coordination.

Weather changes mark the relation between the arms: clear sky for alignment, storm for conflict.

Small changes in timing produce ripples, stalls, and strain across the silk.

When tension rises beyond the safe range, the motion softens and the scene falls into a blue hush.
